37ft MAICA CLASS 111 OCEAN RACER
DESCRIPTION: In 1958 Illingworth opened his own yacht design business, in partnership with Angus Primrose. Together they created some of the most attractive and weatherly boats of the era. Illingworth’s role was to conceive the design in general, the rig, and the details of deck and interior layouts, while Primrose gave the hulls their sweet and efficient lines for speed, good sea-keeping and beauty. Many of the firm’s early clients were French. Illingworth spoke fluent French and loved the country. He encouraged and assisted in the founding of the enormously influential Glenans... read more

28ft. MAURICE GRIFFITHS LONE GULL BERMUDIAN SLOOP - 2002
Maurice Griffiths needs little introduction as one of the most successful and popular yacht designers of the 20th Century. Maurice was a great influence in post-war yachting and as editor of Yachting Monthly for many years, he persuaded numerous people to take up yachting at that time. In his designs, he took much of his inspiration from the East Coast working boats built for those shoal waters but was also influenced by some American designs. Maurice is certainly most well known for his smaller shoal draft designs which appealed to the growing number of new yachtsmen at the time. His desig... read more

44ft. FLYING THIRTY RACING YACHT - Refitted 2020
HUFF of ARKLOW, built in 1951 still looks remarkable nearly seventy years after she was first designed by Uffa Fox for his friend and keen racer Douglas Heard. Douglas was a retired RAF pilot and the stepped sheer is believed to have been incorporated into the design to assist getting aboard when alongside. Douglas wanted a fast, weatherly racer capable of accommodating a crew of six. Essentially the design is a scaled-up Flying Fifteen, also designed by Uffa in 1947 and still raced competitively in World Championships. Probably the most famous Flying Fifteen is COWESLIP presented to the Du... read more
